PSG Has Ended: What the New EDGE Grant Means for Singapore SMEs Going Digital

PSG, EDG and MRA closed on 29 September 2026. From 30 September, Singapore SMEs apply for the new EDGE Grant, with BizSG's AI recommender as the front door. Here's what changed, what it means if you're buying software, and a Grant-Ready Checklist.

PSG Has Ended: What the New EDGE Grant Means for Singapore SMEs Going Digital

TL;DR

  • PSG, EDG and MRA stopped taking new applications on 29 September 2026. From 30 September, all three are rolled into one scheme: the EDGE Grant.

  • What you can get: up to 50% support for SMEs on most activities (up to 70% for internationalisation and sustainability), and up to S$100,000 per company per year. The cap resets every 1 April.

  • The software catch: within that S$100,000, only up to S$30,000 can go to digital solutions, integrated enterprise systems (like an ERP) and selected automation.

  • The front door is BizSG. A new government portal with an AI grant recommender also launches on 30 September.

  • It's still paid back later. Grants are reimbursed after the project is done and fully paid, so the admin and cash flow are on you first.

  • Before you apply: get your records, quotes and processes in order. Use our 10-point Grant-Ready Checklist below.

Accurate as of 28 September 2026, based on Enterprise Singapore's EDGE Grant and PSG pages. Details of each EDGE activity will be published from 30 September, so check them before you apply.

The quote in your drawer

Somewhere in a lot of Singapore offices there's a vendor quote for new software. Maybe it came after a demo last year. Maybe it was going to be "the year we finally move off Excel". The plan was always the same: apply for PSG, wait for approval, then start.

As of 30 September, PSG is gone.

That's not as bad as it sounds. The support hasn't vanished; it has moved. PSG, the Enterprise Development Grant (EDG) and the Market Readiness Assistance (MRA) grant have been folded into one scheme called EDGE. There's also a new front door, BizSG, that uses AI to point you to the right grant.

But if you've been putting off fixing your invoicing, stock or accounts "until the grant comes through", this is a good moment to be honest with yourself. How long has that quote been in the drawer? And what has the delay cost you in late nights, re-typed invoices and month-ends that never quite close?

This article covers what actually changed on 30 September, what it means if you're buying software, and how to be ready, grant or no grant.

What changed on 30 September

Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG) says EDG, MRA and PSG ceased on 29 September 2026. From 30 September, new applications go under the EDGE Grant. It was announced as part of the Business Refresh Package at this year's Committee of Supply debate.

The areas EnterpriseSG names on its EDGE page include Automation & Digitalisation, Business Strategy, Financial Management, Innovation, Internationalisation, Standards and Sustainability. The full list of activities goes up on the EDGE site and BizSG from 30 September.

Already applied for PSG? Applications made before 30 September are still assessed under the old rules. Ongoing projects carry on to completion and claim (EDGE FAQ). Having used PSG before doesn't stop you applying for EDGE.

Using SkillsFuture Enterprise Credit? Final SFEC claims for programmes under EDG, MRA or PSG are due by 30 November 2026. EDGE itself isn't supportable under SFEC.

BizSG: an AI concierge for government support

The other launch on 30 September is BizSG. The Ministry of Trade and Industry and EnterpriseSG announced it at the SME Centre Conference on 9 September, reported by The Business Times.

What it does, based on that announcement:

  • One entry point for government support, grants and resources for going overseas.

  • An AI-powered grant recommender that suggests grants based on your company profile and business plans. It starts with EDGE and some grants from the Skills and Workforce Development Agency. The full range of grants will be added progressively next year.

  • Trade data for going overseas, covering tariffs and in-market contacts across 30 markets and 13 industries.

  • Simpler transactions over time, such as licence applications and business filings.

About 700 businesses have used the beta since October 2025.

This is good news. Most SME owners don't have a free afternoon to read five agency websites. But notice what the recommender works from: your profile and your plans. A recommendation is only as good as what you tell it, and you can only tell it what you know about your own business.

If your stock levels live in one spreadsheet, your invoices in another and your real margins in your accountant's head once a year, the "plan" part is guesswork.

What EDGE means if you're buying software

The headline numbers are generous: up to 70% support and S$100,000 a year. For software buyers, three details matter more.

  1. Software has its own S$30,000 limit. Single-function digital solutions, integrated enterprise systems and selected automation share a S$30,000 limit inside the yearly cap (EDGE FAQ). If you buy a separate accounting app, inventory app and invoicing app, they all draw on the same S$30,000. One integrated system uses that budget more efficiently than three tools stuck together.

  2. You pay first, then claim. EDGE is paid on a reimbursement basis. You claim only after the activity is completed and fully paid for. For a small business, that's real cash flow to plan for. Under PSG you also couldn't pay a deposit before applying. Check whether your EDGE activity has the same rule before you sign anything.

  3. You're committed to the vendor once you apply. After you submit, you can only change the project end date and the claim due date. Any other change, including a new vendor, means ending the application and starting again. Choose carefully.

There's one more thing nobody puts in the brochure: time. PSG applications usually took about 6 weeks to process. EDGE processing times vary by activity and will be published from 30 September. Every week you wait is another week of the old way of working.

That's why it's worth separating two questions. "Can I get a grant?" is one. "Do I need to wait for a grant to fix this?" is another. With free and low-cost tools now available, the answer to the second one is often no.

The AI finding every SME should read

BizSG is built on AI, and so are a lot of the digital solutions you'll see under EDGE. So it's worth looking at what the government's own research says about AI in Singapore businesses.

In August, a Ministry of Trade and Industry study, covered by The Business Times, found that businesses adopting AI saw:

  • Revenue up 16% one year after adoption, and employment up 8%.

  • In wholesale trade, revenue up 24% and employment up 18%. The report linked this to better demand forecasting, inventory planning and logistics.

Then comes the part most headlines skipped. The study found no statistically significant rise in productivity or profit in the first four years of AI use. The author suggested the full benefits may only come after "complementary investments". Having data analytics and cybersecurity in place first probably lays the groundwork.

In plain terms: AI doesn't fix messy data. It just gets to the wrong answer faster.

Those wholesale gains came from forecasting and inventory planning. Those only work when sales, purchases and stock are in one place, up to date, and not split across three spreadsheets. The foundation comes first. The clever part comes after.

The Grant-Ready Checklist

Run through this before you open BizSG or the Business Grants Portal. You're welcome to share it with your team, your accountant or your trade association. Score one point for each "yes".

  1. We meet the basic eligibility. We're registered in Singapore with at least 30% Singaporean or PR ownership.

  2. Our Corppass access works. Whoever will apply can sign in to the Business Grants Portal today, not on the day.

  3. We can describe the problem in numbers. For example: "We re-type about 200 invoices a month" or "stock counts take two days", not just "we need to go digital".

  4. We know our current process. We can sketch how an order becomes an invoice, then a payment, then an entry in the books.

  5. Our records are up to date. Last quarter's sales, purchases and GST are closed, not waiting in a backlog.

  6. We've shortlisted vendors, and checked if they must be pre-approved. Some EDGE activities need a pre-approved vendor. Others let you choose.

  7. We haven't paid anything yet. No deposit or signed payment before applying, until we've checked the activity's rules.

  8. We can fund it upfront. We can cover the full cost until the reimbursement arrives.

  9. We're sure of the vendor. After applying, a change of vendor means starting again.

  10. We know what we'll do if the answer is no. There's a plan B, such as starting on a free tier or a smaller scope.

Points Scoring:

  • 8 to 10: you're ready. Open BizSG on 30 September and let the recommender do its job.

  • 4 to 7: you're close. Items 3 to 5 usually take the longest, so start there.

  • 0 to 3: the grant isn't your bottleneck; your records are. Fix the foundation first, then apply for the bigger projects.

Build the foundation now with AveriWorks

The grant is the easy part to wait for. The foundation is the part worth starting today.

AveriWorks is an integrated ERP for Singapore SMEs. Sales, purchases, inventory, accounting and GST sit in one system, on the same data. It's on IMDA's list of free-of-charge InvoiceNow packages for GST-registered businesses, and it's built by Zetta Solution, an IMDA-accredited InvoiceNow-Ready Solution Provider and Access Point Provider. InvoiceNow and GST InvoiceNow are built in.

Quotations, orders, invoices, stock and the ledger are connected. You stop re-typing between tools.

  • Real numbers for your grant plans.
When BizSG asks about your business, you can answer from live figures, not guesses.

  • AI that works on clean data.
The built-in AI answers questions about your own business data in plain English, the kind of foundation the MTI study points to.

  • No waiting for approval.
The free tier includes accounting, InvoiceNow and GST InvoiceNow, so you can start this week. Paid plans with order processing and inventory start from S$66 a month, billed annually (pricing).

Apply for EDGE if it fits a bigger project. Just don't let the application be the reason your books stay in Excel for another year.
