Sending invoices to GST InvoiceNow

Submitting a sales or supplier invoice to IRAS, who receives a copy, and what locks once it is sent.

InvoiceNow Last updated 13 October 2026

This guide covers one step: sending a document you have already created through GST InvoiceNow. To create the document itself, see Sales Invoices or Supplier Invoices.

Before you start

  • GST InvoiceNow must be activated on System ManagerCompany Profile. See Activate GST InvoiceNow.
  • The document must be confirmed.
  • The document's date must not fall in a closed month. A month is closed when its financial period has been locked on System ManagerFinancial Period, usually once its figures have been reported. Submit GST InvoiceNow does not appear on any document dated in a closed month. To send one, reopen the month first. See Reopen a month.
  • Your role must include InvoiceNow submission. See Inviting your team.
Needs GST InvoiceNow on your plan Check the customer, the date, the amounts and the tax before you send. Once a document has gone to IRAS it cannot be changed or deleted, and the only correction is a credit note.

Send a sales invoice or credit note

  1. Open SalesInvoice or SalesCredit Note and click the confirmed document.
  2. Click Submit GST InvoiceNow at the bottom of the page and confirm.
  3. If a Missing information list appears, fix each item it names and click the button again. Most items are on the customer record or in the document's billing address.
  4. The message Document queued for InvoiceNow submission. means it is on its way.

Where it goes depends on the customer:

  • The customer is on the InvoiceNow network. The e-invoice is delivered to the customer first, with a copy to IRAS. Hovering over the button tells you this before you click.
  • The customer is not on the network. Only IRAS receives it. Send the customer their copy as usual with Email or Print.
  • The customer is a Singapore Government agency. It goes to the agency's own InvoiceNow ID, or to AGD when the agency has none, with a copy to IRAS. See Where a government invoice goes.

A customer is on the network when an InvoiceNow ID shows against them on SalesCustomer. It is looked up automatically from their registration number.

Send a supplier invoice or credit note

  1. Open PurchasesSupplier Invoice or PurchasesSupplier Credit Note and click the confirmed document.
  2. Click Submit GST InvoiceNow and confirm.
  3. If a Missing information list appears, fix what it names — usually the supplier's registration number or address — and click again.

A purchase document goes to IRAS only. Nothing is sent to the supplier, even when the supplier is on the InvoiceNow network.

Check the transmission

  • Beside the document title, a badge shows the latest state, for example GST InvoiceNow: Delivered.
  • The InvoiceNow tab at the bottom of the document is its InvoiceNow activity log. Each row is one transmission: when, by whom, the channel (PEPPOL for the customer's copy, IRAS for the tax copy), the status and any error.
  • GST InvoiceNowSubmission Report lists every transmission to IRAS over a date range.

The status moves from Pending to Sent to Delivered on its own. Failed means it was rejected — see Can failed transmissions be resubmitted?

What you can no longer change

Once a document has been submitted, unless its transmission failed:

  • It cannot be reset to draft. Its prices, quantities, tax and every other detail stay exactly as sent. DOC-0021This document has been submitted to InvoiceNow and cannot be reset to draft.
  • It cannot be deleted.
  • To correct it, raise a credit note and send that through GST InvoiceNow too. See Taking goods back and crediting a customer.

A document whose latest transmission shows Failed unlocks again. You can correct it and send it once more.
